Halestorm’s latest installment in their ReAnimate series of cover EPs is their best one yet.  Where the first two were at least halfway composed of lesser known songs, every track on this third EP are easily recognizable. Lzzy (lead singer Lzzy Hale) also does a better job with the vocals, making them just unique enough to be a different take on the original, but still recognizable. This is a marked improvement from the cover of “Hunger Strike” by Temple of the Dog on the first EP, where she actually managed to make it boring; or the cover of “Bad Romance”, which was almost indistinguishable from the original. I was incredibly and pleasantly surprised by how much she managed to sound like James Hetfield on the cover of Metallica’s “Ride the Lightning” that is on this EP.

The only track on this EP that I don’t like as much as the rest of it is “Heathens” (originally by twenty øne piløts). Not even Lzzy Hale can make me appreciate that song. It is better than the original, though.
